App Store privacy labels for apps using Chatslane
Apple asks every app to declare what data it collects. Here's exactly what to select when your app includes the Chatslane support chat, so App Review doesn't send your build back.
Draft for legal review. Text in [BRACKETS] still needs to be filled in. This page is not legal advice.
Step by step in App Store Connect
- 01
Open App Privacy
In App Store Connect, go to your app → App Privacy → Get Started (or Edit next to Data Types).
- 02
Do you collect data?
Choose Yes, we collect data from this app. A support chat sends messages to your team, so this always applies.
- 03
Select the data types
Tick the types from the table below that match your setup. Messages and the user ID always apply; the others only if you use them.
- 04
Set the purpose
For every Chatslane data type, choose App Functionality only. Chatslane doesn't use the data for analytics, advertising or anything else.
- 05
Linked to the user?
Choose Yes for each type: messages belong to a user's conversation so you can reply to them.
- 06
Used for tracking?
Choose No for each type. Chatslane never shares data with data brokers or uses it to track users across apps.
- 07
Publish
Review the summary and click Publish. Labels go live with your next app version or right away for existing versions.
Which data types to select
For every row: purpose App Functionality, linked to the user Yes, used for tracking No.

| Email address | Contact Info | Email Address | If your app passes it, or users can leave it in the chat for email replies | Yes | No |
| Purchases reported for offer cards (product, amount) | Purchases | Purchase History | Only if your app reports offer redemptions | Yes | No |
| Device model, OS version, app version sent as context | Diagnostics | Other Diagnostic Data | Only if your app sends this metadata | Yes | No |
Using other SDKs too (analytics, crash reporting, subscriptions)? Add their data types as well; this table only covers Chatslane.
Privacy manifest (PrivacyInfo.xcprivacy)
Apple also checks your app's privacy manifest. Declare the same data types there.
- Swift / SwiftUI
- Chatslane's chat is code your coding agent adds to your project, so it's covered by your app's own PrivacyInfo.xcprivacy. Add the collected data types (as in the table) under NSPrivacyCollectedDataTypes, each with purpose NSPrivacyCollectedDataTypePurposeAppFunctionality, linked = true, tracking = false.
- React Native / Expo
- Add the same entries to your app's privacy manifest. With Expo, set them under ios.privacyManifests in app.json / app.config. Libraries you add for photos or review prompts (e.g. expo-image-picker, expo-store-review) ship their own manifests.
- Flutter
- Add the entries to ios/Runner/PrivacyInfo.xcprivacy. Plugins you add for the photo picker or review prompt (e.g. image_picker, in_app_review) include their own manifests.

In-app support chat (Chatslane) We use Chatslane, provided by [COMPANY NAME], to offer an in-app support chat. When you contact us through the chat, Chatslane processes on our behalf: the messages and photos you send, an identifier for your account or device, and, if you've given them to us, your name and email address, plus basic app and device information that helps us answer your question. This data is used only to provide support, is not sold, and is not used for advertising or tracking. Chatslane stores it with its infrastructure providers until we delete it.
